Construction of Martyrs Memorial in Itagar soon

Itagar, May 12: Achieving yet another milestone of his successive commitments, Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister bam Tuki is all set to establish a state-of-the-art Aruchal Pradesh Martyrs Memorial at Itagar in memory of those soldiers killed while fighting the invading Chinese army in 1962.While the Blueprints of the proposed Martyrs Memorial have been prepared by experts like retired Army Generals from Indian Army and is ready for execution, the construction part would start soon, an official communiqué informed here today. It may be mentioned that Tuki had announced to construct Martyrs Memorial at the state capital on November 25, 2013 last while attending ‘Sarhad ko Swaranjali’ programme organised by North East unit of Sansakar Bharati as a mark of respect to those fiercely patriot soldiers and villagers who sacrificed their lives in guarding the tion in the Sino-India war of 1962.Major General K.V.S. Lalotra, AVSM, YSM, SM (Retd.) Project consultant, Major General H K Singh (retd.) the Project Director of Aruchal Pradesh Martyrs Memorial and Architect Abhimanyu Dalal, entrusted to prepare the blueprint for the world class Martyrs Memorial – apparently one of the best in India as claimed by them, explained in detail how the Martyrs memorial would look like after completion to CM in their meeting here yesterday.

General Singh is doing the research work in Aruchal Pradesh on finding out the details of the martyrs.After closely going through the presentation, Chief Minister suggested for giving a traditiol touch to the memorial by depicting various communities of the state besides keeping space for inscription of more martyrs who have laid down their lives in line of their duties after 1962.

He also suggested for constituting a core team who would look after the construction part as well as the magement and periodical maintence of the Martyrs memorial. The team agreed to submit a proposal in this direction, the communiqué said.While saluting the bravery and patriotism shown by our valiant soldiers, CM said, “sitting on the lap of the Himalayas, we are the first to resist any force against India. If any enemy eyes India through North East, Aruchal Pradesh will stand against it first, like in the 1962 Sino-India war.”

“Aruchal owes its respect to the Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty of the country and territorial integrity of Aruchal Pradesh” CM emphatically said. He called for taking utmost care and sincerity in construction of the Martyrs Memorial and asked not to compromise with the quality of work.The monument would take almost one year for completion and would be one of the most attractive places of visit in the state capital, the communiqué added.
