Construction of retaining boulder wall of Diphu river going on

From a Correspondent
HAMREN, July 8: Incessant rain has caused floods in different places and many houses have been washed away, rendering people homeless.
The construction work of the retaining boulder wall of Diphu River by Diphu Town Committee (DTC), for which Rs 8 crore has been sanctioned, is going on.  There were news reports that contractor Chiranjit Agarwal had siphoned off the money without completing the work. This was, however, refuted during a press meet by Town and Country Planning executive engineer, Nipu Charan Dutta, Diphu Town Committee engineer Pradip Rongpi and Town and Country Planning deputy director Rumen Ronghang.
They said that 46 per cent of the work had been completed and the contractor till now had got only 10 per cent of the total payment. They also said that due to the heavy flow of water the boulder had collapsed.
