Construction workers’ union flays government’s ‘anti-labour’ policy

MARGHERITA, Jan 3: All Assam Construction Workers’ Union, affiliated to CITU Tinsukia District Committee, on Monday took out a protest rally from Ranghar Road, Tinsukia to the Assistant Labour Commissioner’s office Tinsukia in protest against Assam Government’s alleged anti-labour policy.

More than 300 members of All Assam Construction Workers’ Union from Tinsukia, Makum, Doomdooma, Digboi, Margherita and Ledo took part in the protest rally and shouted various slogans against the Assam Government. Satyabadi Mura and Mathura th Sarma, president and secretary of All Assam Construction Workers’ Union, said that the rendra Modi government favoured the capitalists and corporates and hence adopted anti-labour policies.

A memorandum was submitted to the Secretary, Government of Assam, Department of Home and Other Construction Workers Development Board through the Assistant Commissioner of Labour, Tinsukia demanding all kinds of education benefits to those who are registered construction workers of 2015-2016 and to increase the development fund for the construction workers of Tinsukia district, said Satyabadi Mura and Mathura th Das.
