Consumer awareness meeting held

TAMULPUR, Feb 22: Tamulpur sub-division electricity office under Assam Power Distribution Company Limited today organised an awareness meeting at Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cultural stage here. Keshab Rajbangshi, president of Tamulpur district BPF, presided over the meeting which was conducted by Diganta Deka, SDO of Tamulpur Sub-Division electricity office. Participating as chief guest Arup Batua, deputy general mager of Rangia division said that due to negligence of some officials, consumers had been suffering from various problems in Tamulpur sub-division, as a result the department has failed to collect 45 percent of the revenue. He said that people should cooperate in this regard and department will try to solve the problems of the consumers.

Prafulla Ch Mahanta, retired teacher and senior citizen of Tamulpur also criticized the activities of some officials of Tamulpur sub-division electricity office.

Indicating problems off electricity bill he alleged that bills are sent to the consumers without taking the metre reading and as a result the consumers failed to pay their bills with a huge amount in proper time.

AGM Manoranjan Kalita answered the questions at the meeting raised by general public regarding power supply, bill problems etc. He urged the people not to seek help of any mediator for their problems and to meet SDO of Tamulpur electricity office.
