Contractual teachers blame Education Minister for plight

Goalpara, March 28:  Along with rest of the State, the Goalpara district Higher Secondary contractual teachers’ association also staged a protest against the State Education Department on Tuesday.  According to the contractual teachers, despite having legal appointment, their jobs had not been regularized till date. Thus, they are deprived from receiving their dues in spite of putting in the same labour and effort as permanent government teachers of the same rank. Hundreds of teachers staged a sit-in before the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The teachers blamed State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for their sad plight.  Later, the association submitted a memorandum at the DC’s office addressed to the Chief Minister as well as the State Education Minister for immediate fulfillment of their demands.
