Contractual teachers demand regularization of jobs

From our Correspondent

Bongaigaon, March 28: Bongaigaon district Secondary Additiol (Contractual) Teachers’ Association (BDSATA) staged a three-hour long demonstration on Tuesday in front of the Bongaigaon DC office.

Sabin Kumar Rabha, secretary of BDSATA, said that the demonstration had been staged in support of the demand for regularization of service of all contractual teachers. “These contractual teachers of high school and higher secondary level had been given appointment on the basis of merit in the year 2010. This recruitment process was conducted by a high-level committee led by the Deputy Commissioner. At first they were recruited for 11 months and then the contract was extended to 12 months. But even after six years, their jobs have not been regularized as yet.”

Rabha added, “The government is betraying us in the me of TET. Already the Gauhati High Court passed ordince in the year 2014 that for regularization of these jobs there is no need of TET qualification for these teachers. We appeal to the government to regularize our posts immediately so that we can concentrate and dedicate ourselves to teaching only. Otherwise, we will be compelled to adopt the path of massive democratic agitation in the coming days,” he said.

They submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Chief Minister and the State Education Minister through the Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner.
