Contribution of Khudhiram Kochary recalled on his 10th death anniversary

DHEKIAJULI, June 9: The 10th death anniversary of founder president of Tezpur District Bodo Sahitya Sabha and prominent social worker of Dhekiajuli area, Khudhiram Kochary was observed on Tuesday at the Ghogra Kochari Yubak Sangha and Library premises with a day-long programme. Khudhiram Kochary was a dedicated social worker representing both Bodo and the common civil society during the 70s. Because of his noble work, premier educatiol institutions like LOKD College were established to provide higher education to the rural students of both Dhekiajuli and Borsola legislative assembly area. Besides serving in many fronts during his lifetime, he was also the Principal of LOKD College till 2001.

The programme started with the prayer followed by homage to the prominent social worker by the president of the Tezpur District Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Liladhar Boro, Iuguration of Prof. Khudhiram Kochary Memorial Auditorium was done by the local MLA Habul Chakrabarty and this was followed by open session meeting.

In connection with the programme, a symposium was also held which was attended by a host of dignitaries including one of the four secretaries of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Prasanta Boro, former presidents of Tezpur District Bodom Sahitya Sabha, Thaneswar Boro, Babuli Boro, Kak Chandra Boro, and Ambu Ram rzary, social worker Ramesh Chandra Bora and Bogiram Boro and Prof. Tulan Mochahary, LOKD College.  The occasion was conducted by the District Bodo Sahitya Sabha Liladhar Boro.

Taking part as chief guest of the occasion, Prasanta Boro observed that Khudhiram Kochary was a man of versatile character and motivated with the ideology of Kolaguru Bishnu Prashad Rabha which is reflected in all of his writings. “He was a man of socialist view who left a high profile job in Gauhati High Court only for working for the great cause of the people of Dhekiajuli and its academic field as a result of which the LOKD College came into being in 1970,” said Boro. He said that Kochary was instrumental in taking forward the Bodo society in the socio-economic and political fields.  Boro also urged the new generation of the Bodo society to keep alive the memory of Kochary.

Earlier, president of Sonitpur Zila Parishad, Prafulla Rabha released the souvenir published in connection with the 10th death anniversary of Prof. Khudiram Kochary. He said that men who had contribution towards society’s overall development should always be remembered and honored by giving recognition to their works. Prior to it, MLA Habul Chakrabarty iugurated the Prof Khudhiram Kochary Memorial Auditorium completed with an allocation of Rs 8 lakh sanctioned from the MLA fund.
