Contribution of mediapersons towards development of society lauded

Haflong, November 16: tiol Press Day was observed in Haflong. This year the tiol Press Day will be observed for two days by the Department of Information and Public Relations of Dima Hasao, starting from Wednesday.

 A two-day workshop was organized for the media fraternity of the district and students of different schools and colleges. This two-day workshop was iugurated by Kulendra Daulagupu, NCHAC Executive Member for Tourism. In his speech he lauded the efforts of the media people for their contribution towards the development of the society.

Veteran jourlist Samudra Gupta Kashyap, who has won several prestigious awards for his contribution to jourlism, was invited as one of the resource persons for the workshop. Renowned persons in the field like photo jourlist Subhamoy Bhattacharya and camera person Pradipta Kumar Debsharma from Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati are also resource persons in this workshop.

 Samudra Gupta Kashyap in his speech threw light on ‘Reporting from the conflict area and challenges for the media’, which is the theme for tiol Press Day this year. He spoke about his experiences and said how a reporter should act responsibly while reporting from the conflict areas during crisis. He also spoke on ethical jourlism and explained the points that a jourlist should always remember while reporting.

Others who spoke on the occasion were Subhamoy Bhattacharya, Pradipta Kr Debsharma, president of the Haflong Press Club and jourlist association of Dima Hasao and DIPRO Purabi Phonglo.
