Contribution of noted educationist Nobin Gogoi recalled

GAURISAGAR, May 17:  A Rajahuwa Smriticharan Sabha of noted educationist, dramatist,  former Professor and Head of Department of JB College, Jorhat and a resident of Jhanji Dibruwal village, Nobin Gogoi, who passed away on April 15, was held at Jhanji  Hem th Sarmah College auditorium recently  under the aegis of Nobin Gogoi Rajahuwa Smriticharan Udjapan Samiti.

The meeting was chaired by Prafulla Baruah, retired Principal, Amguri Auniatia Hem Chandra Dev HS School. Dilip Kumar Sarmah, former Librarian, JB College, Jorhat took part in the meeting as chief orator and highlighted the persolity and multifaceted talent of the noted educationist. He said that Nobin Gogoi was a genius and during his service period he read more than 1,000 books from the college library.

In the meeting a commemorative book Kritya Bidya, written on the life and achievement of Nobin Gogoi and edited by Himadrijyoti Dutta was unveiled by Dr Kak Baruah, former Director, Meghalaya Forensic Laboratory. Releasing the book, Baruah cited the virtues of his teacher and lauded his teaching techniques. In the meeting, Dr Manjit Gogoi, Principal, Jhanji HNS College  highlighted the contribution of Nobin Gogoi  who voluntary provided his service as a teacher of the Assamese  department during the establishment  of  the college.

Horen Baruah, Professor and Head, Jhanji HNS College, Aboni Gogoi, School Inspector of Kaliapani  Block Elementary Education Office, Jorhat,  Pranjal Pratim Borah, Assistant Professor of the college, Gopal  Baruah and Rajib Dutta, president and secretary respectively  of Jhanji Press Club highlighted the achievements of Nobin Gogoi in various fields. Prasanta Gogoi, youngest son of Nobin Gogoi, also spoke a few words in the meeting and expressed his gratitude to the reception committee for holding such a meeting to recall the past days of his father.

Earlier the programme started with lighting of an earthen lamp by Rajani Kanta Goswami, former Principal of Jhanji HNS College. In his speech he lauded the sacrifice of the noted educationist and highlighted his contribution in development of the college.
