Contribution of women in building a balanced society highlighted

mrup, March 9: Along with the rest of the world, Intertiol Women’s Day was observed at mrup on Wednesday with the theme ‘Be Bold for Change’ at BVFCL officers’ club premises with zeal and enthusiasm under the auspices of mrup Town Committee.

The day-long programme started with the lighting of ceremonial earthen lamp by the chairperson, NTC, Nitu Sonowal Buragohain which was followed by a sonorous lokageet by Sima Gogoi. After this an open session was held under the president ship of Bibi Mahanta. Sister Vidya of Prajapati Brahmakumaris mrup, Nitu Sonowal Buragohain and Niroda Gohain, retired teacher graced the occasion as chief guests. In their respective speeches, they dwelt at length on the significance of observing the Intertiol Women’s Day and rights and contribution of women in building a strong, balanced and peaceful society, where gender equality prevails.

In her presidential speech, Bibi Mahanta too lauded the importance of observing the day, appealing to women to be bold and confident in every walk of life. Besides, the day-long programme witnessed several competitions among women participants. The whole programme was initiated by Sarat Hazarika, Junior Assistant, Raktim Ranjan Gogoi, JE and Raju Das, Tax Daroga of mrup Town Committee.
