Cooperative Excellence Award for Rupa LAMPS

Itagar, April 30: Rupa Large Sized Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited (LAMPS) has been honored with State Level tiol Cooperative Development Corporation Award for Cooperative Excellence – 2014 for their excellent performance along with 27 other cooperatives societies in the country.

Maging Director SS Srivastava and Chairman RD Wangja received the award from Union Minister of State for Agriculture MK Kundariya at a function organized in New Delhi on Wednesday, official sources said here today.

Secretary (Agriculture) Shiraj Hussain and Maging Director NCDC Vashudha Mishra were also present on the occasion. The society has members in 14 villages. Apart from other activities, like PDS, hardware and agriculture inputs shops, they have established a fruit processing unit in Rupa.

The unit, first of its kind in the state, aims to address the problem of loss of excessive quantities of tomato in the region and help the farmer community derive higher benefits from agriculture, the sources added.
