Cop suspended for assaulting journo

Itagar, Sept 22: The Capital complex SP Sagar Singh Kalsi on Thursday suspended head constable Ravi Singh from service following an FIR and a memorandum to Home Minister for assaulting a jourlist on duty, during the 12-hour statewide bandh on Tuesday.

Singh had assaulted Aruchal News 24x7 reporter Mongpong tung, stched his video camera and deleted all its recordings while he was covering the clash between police and AAPSU activists during the bandh. On Wednesday, Home Minister Kumar Waii had assured prompt action against the erring police officials when a delegation of Aruchal Press Club (APC), Aruchal Pradesh Union of Working Jourlist (APUWJ) and Aruchal Electronic Media Association (AEMA) members apprised him of the incident.
