Cop's body recovered on NH-415 in Banderdewa

Itagar, Nov 12: Aruchal Pradesh Police has recovered a bullet-riddled body of an IRBn personnel lying at NH-415 between Nirjuli-Banderdewa. The body which was recovered yesterday has been identified as Ajit Sono, a constable of the 4th IRBn Special Task Force, police said.

Ruling out any foul play in the incident, Banderdewa police station officer in charge (OC) Kiksi Yangfo informed that after thorough examition it was confirmed that constable Sono, a tive of East Kameng district, had committed suicide on November 09 last.

The OC also informed that Sono had reportedly left the police station on November 9 after completing his duty and since then had not reported for duty. Accordingly, the police department filed a missing report on Thursday. Capital SP Dr A Koan informed that Sono was detailed for duty of law and order at Ganga.

A missing report was also lodged by the Company commander of STF, at Banderdewa PS on Thursday evening after and search operation was intensified.

The SP also confirmed his death as suicide by his service rifle which was is in his possession. Two bullet marks was also found at the head and neck of the body, the SP said adding, a case has been registered at Banderdewa PS and all his belongings including his motorcycle, purse and mobile have been taken into custody for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the deceased had been handed over to his relatives for the last rites after post mortem. Sono is survived by his wife, the SP added.
