Cops disguised as dacoits search for hidden treasure, bbed

DEMOW, May 26: In Sivasagar district at Demow Desang Rajabari under the leadership of Nitai Chandra Rai, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Sori Police Station, a police team of seven persons carrying a AK-47 and a 9 mm pistol with them, on Wednesday night came in a Bolero car (AS 06 P-0912) and entered the house of Ranjit yak, a resident of Desang Rajabari and allegedly started searching for hidden treasure and gold in the house.

After not getting the hidden treasure and gold in the house, the police team in the disguise of dacoits, alleged assaulted Ranjit yak with the pistol and also misbehaved with his wife Purnima yak.  The police team allegedly also destroyed belongings in the house while searching for the hidden treasure and 15 kg of gold.

After hearing about this incident, the people living near Rajabari Tea Estate came out and reached the house of Ranjit yak and beat up the policemen in the guise of dacoits. Nitai Chandra Rai, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Sori Police Station, Kuldeep Lahkar and Riteshwar Das Rabha, were severely beaten. After the situation become more serious, Pranjit Dowarah, Sub-Inspector of Sivasagar Police Station, along with a team led by Moni Mohan Koch, OC of Demow Police, reached the spot and in front of them the people of Desang Rajabari area beat up the policemen in the guise of dacoits.

Pranjit Dowarah, Sub-Inspector of Sivasagar Police Station, handled the situation and brought it under control. The policemen who were beaten up were taken to Demow Model Hospital for treatment. After getting treatment in Demow Model Hospital, they all were brought to Demow Police Station.  However, the masterminds of the plan were Diganta Borgohain of Sapakhati, Romen Borgohain, of Mahmara, Dulen Konwar and Aboni Phukan. On Thursday afternoon the accused policemen were sent to Sivasagar Jail.
