Cordial and trustworthy police-public relation underscored

Haflong, Oct 3: In connection with the observation of Rising Day of Assam Police, an interaction programme on police-public relations was held at Police Reserve near Haflong police station recently.

The programme was attended by the Superintendent of Police, Vivekraj Sing, Additiol SP,  Bhanwarlal, members from different NGOs, social organizations  and apex bodies of different communities living in Dima Hasao along with officials from Assam Police.

Kalyan Daolagupu, president, Jadikhe isho Hosom and also the chairman of the coordition committee of all apex bodies said a cordial and trustworthy relation between police and public should be maintained for the peace and development of the place. Jhon Phoitong, on behalf of the coordition committee of all apex bodies, spoke about the recent migrant problem in the State. He appreciated the Dima Hasao police for their commendable job in bringing peace in the district and said that Village Defense Party (VDP) should be activated by involving the gaonburas and others to keep vigil on the movement of suspicious people. Parboti Thaosen, president of Shakti Mahila Mondol, an organization working on violence against women said they worked in association with the police and faced no problem while dealing with them. She said more such interaction programmes should also be organized in other parts of the district to enhance the police-public relations and work together for the betterment of the district.
