Cotton Students to boycott classes for indefinite period, Appeals Government to scrap Citizenship bill

Guwahati: Now the students of Cotton College stand in protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The students of Cotton College on Wednesday threatened the Government of India and Government of Assam to boycott their classes for an indefinite period until Government scraps the controversial bill.

The students of Cotton College staged a hunger strike against the bill in Guwahati’s Ambari.

Speaking to the media, Cotton Students’ Body said that they would continue to protest against the bill for the sake of the people and the community. “We will be boycotting the classes for an indefinite period against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016,” adding, “This movement which will continue until the Government comes out to scrap the controversial bill,” said the Student body.

It may also be mentioned that the students’ of Tezpur University Students’ Council had also opposed the Bill.
