Cotton yarns and blankets distributed

SILCHAR, Feb 29: People who fall under beneficiary category welcome elections because it is the spring time for a government to distribute freebees, doles and what not. Around 2000 beneficiaries have been lucky today to get cotton yarns and polar blankets under the Chief Minister’s special programme organized by the assistant director of handloom and textile department. Held in the packed auditorium of District Library, the programme was graced by M K Das, ADC, Kanu Das, assistant director of the department, Abdul Munf, deputy handloom officer, MLAs Ataur Rahman Majharbhuiya and Dr. Rumi th, 82250 blankets and 41466 cotton bundles were distributed among the beneficiaries.

Each bundle of cotton yarns weighs 4.54 kg. The beneficiaries were from the BPL and poor weavers. Some of the beneficiaries expressing their happiness extended their gratitude to the Chief Minister for extending the much needed help to them in order to attain their sustaibility. This would also generate further income and make them self-reliant. A S N Mazumdar, inspector, handloom and textile, and Dibyajyoti Barua, former ZP president, were also present on the occasion of the ceremonial distribution programme.
