Council bypolls peaceful, 86% turnout recorded in Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG, Dec 13: Barring West East Jaintia Hills, which recorded around 86 percent turnout, the six constituencies of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council witnessed an average turnout in the bypolls today. Till filing of this report Mairang-Nongkhlaw recorded 67 percent polling while Rambrai Jyrgram recorded 68 percent turnout. 6th Pariong-Mawthadrashian constituency stands at 66 percent. Laban constituency recorded 52 percent and Sohoing recorded 51 percent. According to poll officials the elections were peaceful.
