Council polls: BJP, AGP emerge victorious in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, Dec 17: In the five no. Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) constituency, Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) candidate Bhaskar Deori clinched the seat by defeating his nearest Indian Congress candidate Dayanda Deori by 513 votes. The INC candidate received only 178 votes.

The independent candidates Puranda Deori,  Bikram Deori and Birinchi Kumar Deori received 401,60 and 233 votes respectively. Similarly, in 22 No Merbeel harkatia constituency of Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council election, Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) candidate Kushu Ram Bora defeated his nearest rival INC candidate Bhadra Bora by securing 165 votes. INC candidate Bhadra Bora maged to secure only 43 votes. The independent candidates Mandit Bora, Simanta Bora, Bhubon Bora and Jagat Saikia received 142,136,111, and 51 votes respectively, a DIPRO press release stated.
