Countdown to countrywide indefinite strike by NJCA begins

Bongaigaon, July 6: “Only four days remain now for the Indiawide strike of all Central Government employees. We are ready. We warn the government to be ready to face the anger of the labour class people from 6 am of July 11. Not a single train in India will move from then,” said SS Mochahary, joint convener of the tiol Joint Council of Action, Bongaigaon /New Bongaigaon branch and Bongaigaon branch secretary of N F Railway Mazdoor Union on Wednesday at a protest meeting held in New Bongaigaon Railway junction. The meeting was held in regard to the indefinite strike called by NJCA from 6 am of July 11.

“After passing of the recommended Seventh Pay Commission by the cabinet on June 29, the Indiawide protest by unions and federations of Central Government employees started. NJCA, the joint platform of all unions and federation of Central Government employees, declared to go for indefinite strike from July 11. As a part of the warm-up programme for the indefinite strike, several programmes throughout India have been organized. This is also a part of such pre-strike programme. Through this programme, we warn the government not to play with the lives of the labour class people. We are not demanding for anything extraordiry. We are just demanding for our basic rights so that we can fulfil our basic needs,” said Bijon Debroy, central working president of NF Railway Employees’ Union.

Several noted persons including Pabitra Barman, Mril Seal, Dipen Bora from NFRMU, Utpal Baruah, P K Dutta from NFREU, Swadhin Sikdar from Pensioners’ Association and many others were present in this three-hour long programme.
