Court orders expert committee to look into salary anomalies

Bongaigaon, Dec 6:  The long-pending demand of graduate teachers of Assam to get equal salary as Demonstrators of Higher Secondary level had filly been approved by the Gauhati High Court. Raj Kumar Barman, president of Chirang District Graduate Teachers Coordition Committee said that by an order, Justice AM Bujorbaruah of Gauhati High Court has asked the respondent authorities to constitute an expert committee. “As per order of court, the government has to form an expert committee to look into the matter and the report must be submitted within four months of the formation of the committee.  This was the anomaly of the Sixth Pay Commission where graduate teachers were given pay band of Rs 5,200- Rs 20,200 whereas demonstrators were given pay band of Rs 800-Rs 35,000. We had filed this case in 2013 and filly after three years, we got this order which is an achievement for us,” he said.
