Rs 300–crore compensation scam

From a Correspondent

Joysagar, July 9: In the latest development in the Rs 300 crore four–lane NH–37 land and property compensation scam which took place in Sivasagar district recently, Sivasagar District and Sessions Judge court has rejected all the bail petitions of the accused persons who are allegedly involved in the scam and are now facing legal trials as the investigating officers of Sivasagar Police have submitted case diaries in the court. In the prelimiry stage of the NH–37 four–lane tiol highway project which was  conducted by the tiol Highway Infrastructure and Development Authorities Limited , an autonomous agency under the Central PWD ministry, the Government of India had sanctioned a total of about Rs. 900 crore for the project from Jhanji Bridge to Demow (about a length of 44.75 km) for land accusation and also for compensation to the parties who had been affected by this project. But some corrupt government officials included fake mes of some persons and business establishments in the list of beneficiaries to be compensation for their land and property.

In this way, a group of Sivasagar ADCs, Circle Officers, PWD Engineers, District Treasury officer and many clerks and low–level office bearers of Sivasagar District Circle Office and also of District Treasury profited by pocketing government fund. When these anomalies came to light, many cases were registered in the Sivasagar Police Station following FIR by various deprived persons in recent times. Acting on such complaints, Sivasagar Police have been investigating the cases and have submitted case diaries in to the District and Sessions Judge court week ago.

Accordingly, the court summoned all the accused and in the very beginning the court rejected all the bail petitions which were submitted by the accused and the court strictly ordered them to obey the legal trial process in the court as per Law so that the justice could be offered to the deprived families.
