CPI (M) activists block NH-31

From a Correspondent

Rangia, February 16: The activists of CPI (M) blocked the NH-31 at Chepty near Rangia on Tuesday.

According to Anta Deka, former MLA of Rangia, the protest was staged against alleged anomalies in the Food Security Act in Rangia.  According to him the Food Security Act was implemented for the poor but the poor and needy were being deprived from this scheme. He also alleged that food security was being given to the rich and to government service holders, which was ‘illegal’. He demanded an impartial enquiry.

Hundreds of members blocked the NH as a result of which vehicular traffic to and from Guwahati was disrupted. A protest meeting was held on the spot where ward commissioner Sarat Kalita was on the chair. Biren Sarma, Lalit Kalita, Parveez Arif, Bibekanda Adhikary and Bhupen Sarma also spoke in the meeting.
