CPI (M) mulls revival of party organization in tribal areas

 A correspondent

Agartala, April 16:  In a bid to revive the CPI (M)’s party organization, it is now planning to use the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) for its revival.
Though the party suffered a humiliating defeat in the Assembly election held in February last, it is still in power in the TTAADC areas, as all the 28 elective seats and two nominated seats belong to the CPI (M).
The CPI (M) has a traditional stronghold among the tribals since 1950 and a clean swipe in the 2015 election of the TTAADC proved the party’s position in the political landscape of Tripura.   In the 2013 State Assembly too it won 19 out of 20 tribal reserve seats.
The strength of the party is its stronghold among the tribals.
However, the party still feels that it has a clear chance to revive its position in the tribal areas by focussing on the TTAADC.
According to the sources, the TTAADC will send a proposal to the Governor through the State government to fill up 7000 vacant posts in the council administration.
The party is of the view that if the proposal is approved then they will have the opportunity to refurbish its lost image among the tribal youth of the State.
