SIVASAGAR, Nov 30: The Communist Party of India (CPI) Sivasagar district committee staged a sit-in on Wednesday in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office demanding publication of NRC draft rolls on December 31 as had earlier been announced by the Central Government.
In a press release signed by Kak Goi, secretary, CPI Sivasagar District Committee, the party urged upon the State Government to take stern measures against all subversive forces that have been trying to derail the NRC upgradation process.
The party also demanded the government to make the content of the ga Framework Agreement, which was inked by the Centre with the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015, public. It also strongly opposed the alleged move of the Centre to hand over 10 oil fields belonging to ONGC to the private companies. The meeting held on the occasion was addressed by veteran CPI leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Drupad Borgohain, Muhi Baruah, Dharma Baruah, Rajen Bowry, Kak Gogoi and Bitul Gogoi.
