CPM rubbishes Choudhury's statement on police

 From a correspondent

Agartala, Oct 23: The CPI(M) State secretary Bijon Dhar rubbishes the statement made by legislator Jiten Choudhury, who is also the president of the tribal wing of the ruling party— Tripura Upajati Gamukti Parishad (GMP), for censuring the role of the State police.  “A few policemen may indulge in such activities. But blaming the entire force is something ucceptable,” Dhar told in a press conference here when asked about the basis for such an allegation by his party colleague.
Earlier Jiten Choudhury in a statement alleged that in Khowai area police are conniving with the opposition political parties, particularly the Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Twipra (IPFT). He along with a delegation met the Director General of police and submitted a memorandum demanding action against the erring police personnel.
Though the CPI (M) State secretary rejected the allegation, the State administration took note of it and had already transferred the SP of Khowai district gendra Debbarma. He was replaced by Krishnendu Chakraborty.  The statement made by Jiten Choudhury, expressing loss of trust over police, evoked much reaction in the political circle as many considered it as an indictment to the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar as he has been holding the home portfolio over the last 20 years.
