CPM stages protest in Rangia

Rangia, Jan 20: CPM activists staged a dhar in front of the Rangia Divisiol Railway Mager’s (DRM) office on Wednesday. Hundreds of supporters from different parts of Rangia subdivision and office bearers joined in the programme. They also shouted slogans in support of their demands. The programme was lead by Anta Deka, former MLA of  Rangia constituency and the State secretary of CPM. The other organizations who joined hands in the programme were CITU, Nikhil Bharat Krishak Sabha,  DYFI, SFI, All India Democratic Woman Organization, All Assam Mid-day meal Workers’ Union, All Assam Construction Labour Union, All Assam Anganwadi Workers and Helpers’ union. The main demands of the protesters were introduction of double railway line between New Bongaigaon and Agiathury via Rangia, construction of second railway bridge on the Brahmaputra, appointment of local candidates in the vacant posts of Group C and Group D, among others. They also submitted memorandum to the DRM demanding early fulfillment of the most important demands. Bhupen Sarma, Satish Sarma and Bibekanda Adhikary also addressed the protesters.
