Crackdown on cock-fights in Margherita

MARGHERITA, Dec 27: Margherita administration and Margherita Police have banned cock-fight and dice (gambling) in Margherita region.

On Sunday, Margherita SDO (Civil) Bikram Koiri and Margherita Police Station Officer in-Charge Girin Sonowal conducted a raid at Lekhajan, Lalgola and Dehing TE under Margherita Police Station where notice had been served. The Gauhati High Court has put a ban on cock-fight and dice (gambling) where Margherita administration has issued notice that if anyone is found engaging in cock-fight and dice (gambling), strict punishment will be given as per law. On November 21,  Pintu Mura was brutally killed by some youths due to cock-fight and gambling at Lalgola under Margherita Police Station and one Sanjay Karmakar was arrested in this connection.
