Crackdown on illegal sale of local brew

DHEKIAJULI, Jan 7: On Sunday, police conducted a special crackdown  at the Dhekiajuli weekly market against the illegal sale of  local- made liquor. On the basis of the complaint received from the Dhekiajuli unit AASU, Sonitpur DSP Anindita Gogoi, along with a police team, evicted several illegal liquor sale points at the Dhekiajuli weekly market. It is alleged that there was a close nexus among the liquor traders, police and excise department officials. Circle Inspector of Dhekiajuli  Police Station, Sankha Swargiary took part in the operation. No arrest was made.
