GAON (HAIBORGAON), March 15: BJP gaon district unit on Tuesday has been divided into two groups with the dissident group declaring their independent candidate for gaon Sadar constituency.

According to the deprived party ticket aspirants, soon after the declaration of the party’s candidate list, the dissidents in the BJP district unit were lying low for over a week, but suddenly on Monday all the ticket aspirants held a discussion and took the decision to field an independent candidate from their side in the constituency. They added that in the discussion all the dissident ticket aspirants like Mukul Sarma, Mahendra Kunwar, Deva Saikia, Devajit Dey, district general secretary of BJP Jayanta th, Hitrendra th Borua, Popi Borua and others decided to field the district general secretary Jayanta th as their common independent candidate in the constituency and as the first step, all the dissident ticket aspirants opened an office at Maturpatty area in gaon town on Tuesday.

The dissident BJP ticket aspirants said that although the party high command gave the ticket to Rupak Sarma in the constituency, actually he was not the party’s candidate, rather he was the candidate of MP Rajen Gohain and hence the grassroots workers of the party projected Jayanta th as their candidate in the seat. “None of us or none of the hardcore workers and supporters of the party will cast their vote in favour of Rupak Sarma. Rather all of us will work for the victory of Jayanta th as he has been working for the party for a long period of time in the constituency,” they added.
