Creation of C&RD Block at Mawlai

Mawtawar Durbar allots 3 acres of land

SHILLONG, Mar 2: The durbar shnong (village council) of Mawtawar under Mylliem Syiemship along with Mawlai Town Dorbar today informed the Director of Community & Rural Development (C&RD) department I R Sangma that they have taken a resolution and decided to provide adequate land measuring 3 acres to the state government for setting up of the C&RD Block at Mawlai.

The durbar shnong of Mawtawar along with Mawlai Town Dorbar was also accompanied by local MLA Embhah Syiemlieh and NGO leaders of both the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) and Federation Khasi Jaintia Garo People (FKJGP) Mawlai.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with the director, Syiemlieh informed that the Director had assured that on March 3, at around 2PM officers of the department will inspect the plot at Mawtawar and later submit the inspection report to the state government.

According to him, the location at Mawtawar for the C&RD Block is centre location for the entire three constituencies which include Mawlai, Pynthorumkhrah and Nongthymmai.

He informed that the MLA of Nongthymmai Jemino Mawthoh during their discussions had no objection in regards to the location, however, the Pynthorumkhrah MLA, A L Hek has not given any conclusive answer on the matter.

Meanwhile, K M Lyngdoh vice president Mawlai Town Dorbar said, “As the Chief Minister (CM) had announced in the last year’s Budget session that one of the C&RD Blocks will be set up at Mawlai, we expect he holds true to his word.”

Marbud DkharFKJGP president Mawlai Circle said, “If the state government takes our demand lightly to immediately iugurate the C&RD Block at Mawlai then we will be force to take other steps to pressurize the government.”
