Crime against women on the rise

SHILLONG, Jan 1: A woman of Psiar village in West Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint that on December 26 at about 11:30 pm, one Dianki Synh raped her thirteen year old daughter. Meanwhile on December 24 at about 8 pm, one Kitborlang Jyrwa, attempted to rape and molest one woman in her residence at Lumpluh village, East Khasi Hills and also threatened her with dire consequences. Police arrested the accused. In another incident, a 19 year old woman lodged a complaint that on December 12 she was married in Ambala Cantonment, Himachal Pradesh, however, her in-laws tortured her following which she ran from Ambala and came to Shillong on Dec 20.
