Crimils using Bangladesh SIM cards for committing crime

FROM OUR REPORTER

SHILLONG, Feb 28: The sigls emitting from Bangladeshi cellular companies is available all along the Indo-Bangla border in the State, which has posed serious threat to tiol security.

“Miscreants use Bangladeshi mobile sigls along the Indian side of the border for kidpping and other crimil activities,” BSF Shillong sector DIG Risal Singh told newsmen recently at Ranikor.

He pointed out that Grameen phone, a Bangladeshi mobile company’s sigl is available on the Indian side of the border, which has made anti-tiol activities easier for the crimils.

Informing that services of no Indian mobile companies are available along the border, Singh said that the BSF does not have any mechanism to intercept the sigl of Bangladeshi mobile company’s sigls. He further said that the terrain   in the border areas of Meghalaya is difficult with lack of proper border fencing. “However, BSF is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the borders are well guarded,” he said.

It may be noted that poor cellular connectivity in several parts of the State continues to bring endless inconvenience to the residents of such areas that mostly lie along the intertiol border with Bangladesh.

This poor cellular connectivity has even forced some of the residents to use Bangladeshi SIM cards.

Bangladeshi SIM cards are available in Ranikor.
