Crisis Situation in Karnataka, 14 Congress & JDS MLAs resigns

Bengaluru: In a major crisis in coalition Government of Karnataka, around 14 Congress and JDS MLAs reached the office of the state assembly speaker, reportedly to submit their resignation to the secretary of the Speaker's office. The speaker, KR Ramesh Kumar, however, is not in the office and the legislators are waiting for him.

As per media reports, they have now submitted resignation to the secretary of the Speaker's office. MLAs are likely to go to Raj Bhavan next to meet the Governor and update him about the same.

So far resignation of 11 MLAs has been reportedly accepted.

Among those who have put forward their resignation are H Vishwanath (JDS), Mahesh Kumthalli (Congress), BC Patil (Congress), Ramesh Jarkiholi (Congress), Shivaram Hebbar (Congress), Narayan Gowda (JDS), Gopalia (JDS), ST Somashekar (Congress), Muniratna (Congress), Pratap Gowda (Congress) and Byrathi Basavaraj (Congress).

Four more Congress MLAs have reached Vidhana Soudha that includes ex-minister Ramalinga Reddy. He said he doesn't know about others, he speaks for himself.

Reddy said, "I am not going to blame anyone in the party or the high command. I somewhere feel I was being neglected over some issues. That is why I have taken this decision."

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and State minister DK Shivakumar have called an emergency meeting of Congress Bengaluru MLAs and corporators later today at 5 pm.

BJP's S Prakash said JDS and Congress have failed to keep their flock together. Had they done so, this situation wouldn't have arrived.

BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said, "People of Karnataka are sick of this political coalition. We have been noticing the developments. They finally realized the chaos that had been created in the state. Not just BJP but even people of Karnataka will heave a sigh of relief. For the BJP, we have been looking at what has been going on for quite some time now."

Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy will be landing tomorrow at Bengaluru airport.

Congress MLA BC Patil said, "Injustice has been done with my constituency and with the people of North Karnataka."

If MLAs don't change their decision, Congress might move SC. During the government formation, individual MLAs had given an affidavit to SC saying their support is for the Congress and JDS party.
