Crop insurance stressed upon in fincial literacy programme

GAURISAGAR, July 11: Krishak Nyas, a leading NGO of Sivasagar district organized a fincial literacy awareness programme (FLAP) in association with BARD on Friday at Jhanji Ratanpuria village under Gaurisagar Development Block. In the function Branch Mager, UBI, Jhanji Branch, Pobitra Borah highlighted the Pradhan Montrir  Bima Suraksha Yoja (PMBSY), Pradhan Montrir Jibon Jyoti Bima Yoja(PMJJBY), Atal Pension Yoja and Pradhan Montrir Jan Dhan Yoja (PMJDY).The Branch Mager asked the farmers to take the opportunities of these schemes. He also stressed on crop insurance, weather based insurance. In the programme Lead Bank Mager (LDM), MK Sethi emphasized various loan products like KCC, interest subvention and benefits of timely repayment. Sethi said that Rs.16.38 crore had been granted for providing KCC loan  among  2,140  farmers under Gaurisagar Development Block  through nine  public sectors bank branches. In the programme Devajani Saikia Phukan, president, Morabazar Gaon Panchayat gave a key note of Panchayati Raj system and importance of savings. Lakheswar Mahanta, DDM, BARD, Sivasagar emphasized importance of banking savings and fincial planning. Earlier, Himadri Jyoti Dutta, Chief Secretary of Krishak Nyas explained the objective while Puspadhar Neog rrated the role of NGO in the area and their activities for the development of rural people. DDM, BARD offered the vote of thanks. Rajib Dutta, publicity secretary of Krishak Nyas, anchored the programme while Atul Gogoi and Prahlad Khanikar on behalf of farmers exchanged their views regarding grievances faced by the farmers in case of KCC and other loan sanctions.
