CRPF apprehends 150 ultras in 2017

Shillong, Dec 30: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has bbed 150 militants and linkmen of proscribed outfits from different parts of the Northeast in 2017. 
CRPF’s North East Sector (NES), which conducts counter insurgency operations in Lower and Central Assam and Meghalaya, also recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, besides seizing various contraband items, during various operations during the year. 
A statement issued by CRPF NES Inspector General (IG) Prakash D said personnel of the Central police force also participated in the Swatch Bharat Abhiyan and Sankalp Se Sidhi programmes enthusiastically. In Shillong, the men cleared the Polo Ground area that won appreciation of the general public. The IG said CRPF personnel from NES also won accolades for safely conducting Amar th Yatra and peaceful conduct of Assembly elections in UP, Manipur and Gujarat. He said medical camps were also held in schools under the Civic Action Programme in 2017. Prakash said the CRPF men also excelled in the field of sports and its wrestling team secured second position in the All India Wrestling Competition held at gpur.
