CRPF clears stand regarding extortion charge against jawans

GOLAGHAT, August 31:  The Deputy Commandant of 142 Battalion CRPF posted in Golaghat has clarified the stand of the battalion regarding the alleged involvement of its jawans in an extortion case.   The Deputy Commandant of CRPF said that the two jawans, Haripad Gogoi and Debanda Daimary, are part of their intelligence team and some media reports were published regarding their involvement in an alleged extortion case, which were ‘completely false and baseless’. The Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Kumar Chauhan also said that the police had not arrested Haripad Gogoi and Debanda Daimary, the two jawans of CRPF in connection with any extortion case. Recently media reports had claimed that two CRPF jawans Haripad Gogoi and Debanda Daimary and VDP secretary of Kathiatoli village Altaf Hussain had been apprehended for demanding  money from one Lakhi Urang of Kathiatoli village, an employee of the education department.
