Tura, Oct 12: A constable of the 120 Battalion of the CRPF shot himself with his service revolver on Wednesday leading to his death around 10:30 pm at Dakopgre locality of Tura.
Identified as T Chinza Kam, the 34-year-old constable from Manipur was declared brought dead at the Tura Civil Hospital where his body has now been kept for post mortem.
West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Raghuvendar Kumar said the constable had completed his duty for the night and was returning to his quarters when he allegedly shot himself. The reason for the extreme step taken by the CRPF man is yet to be ascertained.
“He was still alive when he was found though he died on the way to the hospital. Prima facie it seems to be a case of suicide though we are looking at all angles to the case,” Kumar added.
The deceased was a resident of Lianzagin village in Churachandpur district of Manipur.
