Police at that time had recovered iron pipes worth about Rs 3 crore from Paresh Das’ residence and other artificial ponds which he had dug in his patta land as well as in the historic Rupahi Pathar of Joysagar. But in police custody Paresh Das pretended to be ill and police admitted him in Joysagar Civil Hospital on March 20. But with the alleged help of the then Joysagar Police Station O/C, he successful fled from the hospital on March 21. Since then Sivasagar Police had been trying to nab him. Finally they were able to apprehend him in Narikalbasti, Guwahati on Sunday night. Joysagar Police brought him to Sivasagar in connection with the cases registered against him in Joysagar Police Station (284/18/292/18) on Monday evening, source informed. Besides, many cases of robbery, abduction, extortion, attempt to murder on two local journalists, car lifting and also sexual harassment cases have been registered against Paresh in other police stations.
