CSWO angry over poor road condition

FROM A Correspondent
SHILLONG, July 5: The Civil Society Women Organisation (CSWO) has expressed strong resentment over the deplorable road condition in Ri-Bhoi district. According to the CSWO after getting complaints from villagers of Umden, about the dilapidated condition of the road from Nongpoh to Umden they found that the road construction was not up to the standard and the road condition is dangerous for plying of auto rickshaws.  “The condition of the road is bad and takes time for vehicles especially ambulances to ply smoothly,” the CSWO said. The CSWO has said that it has received complaints from the village of Mawthwan under Sohiong, East Khasi Hills District, where the whole road is under water and no draige is provided, leaving the people especially the children, to walk through the water, flooded in this road, during the rainy days.  The CSWO has urged the Minister–in- Charge of PWD (Roads) to take up the issue seriously and immediately blacklist the contractors and any official responsible, for the sub- standard works.
