CSWO seeks speedy justice to rape victims

SHILLONG, Dec 30: The Civil Society Women Organization (CSWO) has condemned the rape of a woman in Ri-Bhoi district even as it demanded speedy justice to rape victims. According to CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing, the woman was allegedly raped on December 26, in the quarters of the St Thomas School, War Mawsaw in Ri Bhoi District by one Welcome Nongbak (35) who hails from the War Mawsaw village. Kharshiing said that the victim was raped while she was cooking for a teacher and his friends. The CSWO president informed that the victim has sustained injury in the face as she fought the rapist. Kharshiing also alleged that the miscreant then entered the house of the victim and tried to molest the 13 year old daughter of the victim.  He has been arrested after the daughter shouted for help. Meanwhile, the CSWO president has urged the authorities to deliver speedy justice to rape victims and not make rape cases linger in investigations or trials.
