Cultural activist passes away

GAURISAGAR, Oct 12: Anuj Saikia, a cultural activist, Youth Congress leader, son of Rikheswar Saikia and a resident of Charing  Baruwati village  on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district passed away on Thursday morning due to cardiac arrest. He was 46.  On Thursday morning after he suffered a cardiac arrest, he was taken to a private nursing home but due to non-availability of ICU, he was taken to Sivasagar Civil Hospital. He, however, breathed his last at the hospital entrance.   Anuj Saikia was a cultural activist and actively  associated with Juki Silpi Samj, Charing.  He performed bhaos, and various social plays which enthralled the audience. He was also involved in active politics. He is survived by his parents, wife, two daughters and a host of relatives.
