Cultural meet organised in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, June 23: The Assam Branch Indian Tea Association Zone 1 (ABITA, Zone 1) in support with UNICEF, Assam organized a day long Sports & Cultural Meet at Muttuck Tea Estate on the occasion of 3rd World Yoga Day on Wednesday. The  Secretary, Zone 1, Madhurjya Barooah said that over 300 adolescent girls’ group members from Lepetkatta, Borbarooah, Muttuck, Romai, Mohokutie, hortoli, Nudwa, Hattialli, Dikom, Langherjan, harkutia, Bhamun, Teen Alli, Dirai, Doomur Dullung, Rajgarh, Greenwood, Thai, Maijan, Sepon, Moran, Khowang, Basmatia, Singlijan, Balijan (H), Bokel, Rajah Alli, Balijan (N), Desam, Halmari, Attabarrie, Chubwa, Duliabam, Achabam, Zaloni, Borhat, Maud, Borpatra, mroop and Dirial tea estates of Dibrugarh, Sivasagar and Charaideo Districts participated in the event.  Barooah further informed that  Justin Guria, Langharjan Tea Estate who participated in the tiol Level Junior Hockey Tourment in 2016 and  Anku Kalar who participated in the Senior Level Football Tourment held on 2010 shared their experience and journey toward a state level player with the adolescent girls. The event started with tiol Anthem performed by all adolescent girls present in the programme. After that Anup Gogoi, Coach on Yoga briefed the objective of Intertiol Yoga Day and showed some procedure of Yoga and all adolescent girls present in the programme participated.
The open meeting started with the theme song performed by the adolescent girls group members of Muttuck Tea Estate where Chairperson of District Child welfare Committee,  Sewali Borbora graced the function as Chief Guest. On her speech, she urged the adolescent girls not to marry during adolescent period and to continue their schooling and participate in sports and various activities. Mager of Muttok Tea Estate, Sailen Goswami, was present at the meeting as a special Guest and spoke on the development of adolescent girls after commencing the ABITA-UNICEF partnership programme. Retired Principal, Kanoi Commerce College, Raghu Borbara, and Bhaskar Gogoi, a renewed sports man was also present in the meeting. During the meeting, adolescent girls group member,  Junmoni yak from Singlijan TE,   Lakhi Garh from Duliabam TE, Himadri Panika from Maud TE and Gouri Garh from Muttuck TE spoke on their learnings and development of adolescent girls through the Adolescent Girls group activities. At the closing of the day the Adolescent girls group of Zaloni and Rajah Alli Tea Estates played a friendly football match and the adolescent girls group of Nudwa and Teen Alli Tea Estates played friendly volleyball match.
