'Cultural mosaic needs to be preserved'

Itagar, Aug 31: Aruchal Pradesh Governor P B Acharya and Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday greeted the people on the occasion of the agriculture festival of the Adi community— Solung

The Governor in his message to the people expressed hope that the socio-agricultural festival would continue to showcase the cultural richness of the State. Acharya said, “Solung festival is the embodiment of socio-cultural and religious life of the community.”

The community celebrates the festival with traditiol gaiety and enthusiasm, since time immemorial, to appease many deities for bumper harvest, welfare of domestic animals and peace, prosperity and well being of mankind as a whole. Ponung dance is an integral part of Solung celebration.

     Khandu in his message said, “I feel privilege to join my Adi brethrens in celebrating the joyous festival of Solung. I congratulate and appreciate their spirit in celebrating the traditiol festival of Solung every year with joy and bonhomie”. Adding further, the Chief Minister said “Ours is a distinct State with several tribes and communities residing together for ages and maintaining their own unique indigenous culture and traditions. Despite our varied diversity, we as Aruchalees are united and take pride in our indigenous cultural heritage.”

Khandu said that this cultural mosaic has to be maintained, preserved and propagated at all costs.
