From our Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, Oct 31: Bodoland Jajati Suraksha Mancha (BJSM) on Tuesday hailed the All Bathou Religious Union (ABRU) which observed its silver jubilee celebration at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium parade ground with a three-day programme which concluded on October 29 and said that the great Mahasabha was essential to protect its own culture and religion.

The president of BJSM, Jaklal Basumatary said the Bathou Mahasabha at Amingaon was praiseworthy to keep its religious value alive. “We were thinking of a similar programme in Guwahati like last year which we organized on the bank of Sonkosh river along West Bengal border. It is a timely challenge against the aggression of Vedic culture of western India by performing mami Brahmaputra in Vedic mantra,” he said, adding that the culture of Brahmaputra Valley was essentially Mongoloid culture. He also said the Bodo culture represented this Mongoloid culture in the Brahmaputra Valley.

Basumatary said that since ‘Kamaikha’ was the seat of great Mongoloid culture, a permanent ‘Bathou Thansali’ should be maintained with regular yearly performance of Bathou and Kherai Puja in Guwahati, the early seat of Kirato Mlechha Boro Mongoloid culture, to survive Vedic culture aggression and imposition. He said the Bathou Puja at Amingaon was a timely step in the present situation when the origil culture of the Brahmaputra Valley was in the process of extinct.
