Curtains fall on Buddha Mahotsava

Itagar, Nov  7: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu accompanied by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and renowned Bollywood Singer Adn Sami landed at Bomdila in West Kameng district on Sunday to grace the closing ceremony of third Buddha Mahotsava.

The guests were offered traditiol welcome at the Buddha stadium. Union Minister Rathore is the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony and Adn Sami the Guest of Honour an official report informed here today.

Before proceeding towards the podium for formal iuguration, the guests paid visit to the traditiol exhibition stalls. They also visited the traditiol huts of the Bugun, Sajolang, Monpa, Sherdukpen and Sartang tribe.

To pray for the long life of the distinguished guests, the monks of the Chilipam Mostery, Rupa performed a 30-minute traditiol chant.

The ceremony was also attended by Speaker TN Thongdok, Parliamentary Secretary (Health) Phurpa Tsering, Parliamentary Secretary (PHED) Kumsi Sidisow, MLA Bomdila Japu Deru and other dignitaries, the report said.

The chief minister accompanied by the dignitaries also visited the traditiol food stalls erected on the occasion.

The guests visited the Khampti, Galo, Aka, Sajolang, Sartang, Bugun, Nyishi, Apatani, Monpa and Shertukpen food stall.

Khandu and the dignitaries also visited the Gompa here. The guests also visited the Thubchog Gatsel Ling Mostery situated in the heart of the town.  The guests were offered traditiol welcome and gifted with statues of Lord Buddha, the report added.
