Cycle rider run over

Hojai, April 10: One Basanta Das (35) died in a road accident at Lanka in gaon district. The accident took place on Thursday evening on NH-54 at Bhalukmari area of Lanka police station. Das was riding a cycle and going towards  Sankardev gar. A Maruti Alto car (AS 23-6972), coming from opposite direction, hit him and fled from the spot. Das died on the spot. The deceased is a resident of Laxmipur of Bhalukmari of Hojai subdivision. The Lanka police were informed and they took the body  to gan Civil Hospital for post mortem. A case has been registered and police have launched a hunt to b the driver of the erring vehicle.
