Cyclone hits Papum Pare, five injured

Itagar, April 29: Severe cyclonic storm accompanied by hailstorm hit Papum Pare district and parts of Assam on Thursday leaving more than 100 families homeless and damaged more than 150 houses. Five persons are reported to be injured.
The severe cyclone which lashed Banderdewa Circle especially Chessa-Sujuli Panchayat, destroyed boys and girls’ hostel, school building and standing crops.
On receipt of the information Urban Development, Land Magement Minister, bam Rebia visited the affected places on Friday. The report of cyclone damages have been reported from Sangdupota circle where five dwelling houses have been partially damaged in Jote and Mokomoli villages, spping of power line of both LT as well as HT lines. It would takes at least four days to five days for restoration as revealed by officials of power department.
Upper Balijan ZPM Gollo Takam informed that the cyclone had hit the Sangdupota circle and five houses at Jote have been partially damaged while few standing crops and boys hostel of Secondary School at Bassarllo have been destroyed.
