Czech trails 2-0 to Australia

Prague, March 7: The Czech Davis Cup team trailed 2-0 to Australia in the first round of the Davis Cup, which was held in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Czech player Lukas Rosol, who is the current world No. 31 in ATP ranking, lost to world No. 133, Australian Thas Kokkikis 4-6, 2-6, 7-5, 7-5, 6-3 in the first men’s single match. In the following singles match, Australian player Berrd Tomic defeated Czech player Jiri Vesely 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), Xinhua reported on Friday

With the absence of Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek, Czech team is facing a relegation if it loses to Australia.

Stepanek is recovering from an injury and has just started training. Berdych, meanwhile, is preparing for his next tourment in Miami with new coach Daniel Vallverduem. IANS
