Dacoit killed, four others bbed in gaon encounter

Police officer critically injured in shootout rushed to Guwahati for treatment

gaon, March 20: A dacoit was killed and two others were seriously injured in an encounter with police on Friday at about 6.45 am near Itapara outpost under gaon police station.

Police sources said that the owner of a brick kiln was to pay the wages of the labours on Friday. The team of dacoits was waiting on the Itapara road to loot the money. After receiving the information from secret sources, a police team of gaon Sadar police station led by sub inspector Badra Prashad Baruati rushed to the spot.

Spotting the police team, the dacoits open indiscrimite fire. The police team also retaliated.

In the exchange of fire, one dacoit was killed on the spot, three others were injured and two others apprehended by the police. Two dacoits, including an injured one, maged to escape. Police officer Badra Prashad Baruati was also injured in the firing. He was also stabbed by a dacoit. The officer was rushed to Guwahati in critical condition. A CRPF jawan also injured in the encounter.

The slain dacoit has been identified as Majibur Rahman, though family members are yet to identify his body.

The two injured dacoits admitted in the BPC Hospital are Kashem Ali, who hails from Kawaimari and Mainul Haque from Dhing Gate, gaon. The other two apprehended dacoits are Mirajul Islam and Babul Ahmed.

One 7.65 mm pistol made in Italy, a handmade pistol, some live ammunitions of .303 rifle and two daggers were recovered from the arrested crimils. Three motorcycles used by the crimils - one  Bajaj Discover (AS 02F 5053), one Hero Glamour (AS 02N 1598) and a Yamaha F Z S (AS 02G 5999) – were also seized by police.

gaon police have intensified operation to b the fleeing dacoits.
